Orosoko Sound Bar is a Latin and Asian small plate restaurant, listening lounge and cocktail bar in South End, Charlotte, NC. The concept combines chef-driven small plates by Executive Chef Jay Pound, signature craft cocktails built around premium spirits, including tequilas, mezcals and sake. Everything is pulled together by an audiophile-grade sound system in a beautiful space with superb acoustics, designed for both music enjoyment and conversation.

A Sound Bar, or listening lounge, is a venue where high-fidelity music is a core part of the experience, not an afterthought. The concept traces back to Japanese listening bars of the late 1920s, conversation pits of the 1960s and the resurgence of both in the last several years. Orosoko's room has been meticulously engineered to deliver superb acoustics, with a balance of insulation and diffusion, so a live DJ playing at a noticeable volume can coexist with meaningful conversation. Aside from the obvious benefits of not having to shout, the body and mind are more able to enjoy a stree-free experience and deeper connection through better interaction with others.

Orosoko is a restaurant and cocktail bar in Southend Charlotte open late most evenings. We are great for after-work cocktails and working dinners. However, we also offer late night dining for guests who prefer a lively atmosphere for dinner. Our DJ’s generally start at 8pm.
-
Although Orosoko’s signage is intentionally discreet, we are not a speakeasy. We are immediately recognizable by our oversized mahogany entry door with the iconic “O” logo door pull.
-
Anti-fusion is Orosoko's East vs. West menu format: instead of blending Latin and Asian flavors into one dish, the menu presents the same idea two ways — one Latin interpretation, one Asian. Think a smoked-chili duck confit taco on the West side versus a Vietnamese duck confit summer roll on the East side. Two perspectives, zero blending.
-
Executive Chef Jay Pound leads the kitchen. Pound is a veteran of Charlotte's dining scene, previously executive chef at Soul Gastrolounge and earlier at Aquavina and Latorre's. He designed Orosoko's East vs. West small-plates menu.

Orosoko is at 130 W. Bland Street, Charlotte, NC 28203, at the corner of Bland and Winnifred Streets in South End — a short walk from the Bland Street light rail station. Look for the "O" on the top corner of the building and on the door handle to a massive, custom 1,000-pound mahogany entry door.

Latin and Asian small plates served tapas-style, fired as they're ready and meant for sharing. The East vs. West menu pairs dishes like street corn fritters with lime crema against Japanese okonomiyaki, or chili-butter lobster arepas against lobster ramen. Plan on 2-3 plates per person.
